Nolej is a vocabulary learning app that uses spaced repetition (FSRS algorithm) to help you retain words long-term. Study curated decks or build your own, rate cards Again or Good, and let Nolej handle the scheduling.
How does spaced repetition work in Nolej? Nolej shows you a word right before you're likely to forget it. Each time you rate a card "Again" or "Good," the app recalculates when to show it to you next. The more consistently you study, the better the timing gets.
Where is my study data stored? Nolej stores your decks, cards, and study progress locally on your device.
I deleted the app or switched devices. Can I get my progress back? If your data is only stored locally, uninstalling the app or switching devices may not carry over your progress. We recommend not deleting the app if you want to keep your study history.
Can I use Nolej without an internet connection? Yes. Nolej works fully offline for studying, adding your own cards, and reviewing. An internet connection is used when auto-filling a new card's definition or image, downloading a curated deck, or loading ads.
How do I reset my progress on a deck? Go to the deck's settings (tap the deck, then the settings icon) and select "Reset progress." This clears review history for that deck only — other decks are not affected.
Why isn't a word showing up when I search or add a card? Nolej pulls definitions and images from external dictionary sources. If a word isn't found, it may be too obscure, misspelled, or not yet supported. You can still add the card manually with your own definition.
Does Nolej show ads? Yes, Nolej shows ads through Google AdMob to keep the app free to use. We aim to keep ads unobtrusive and separate from your study flow.
How do I delete my data? You can remove all locally stored data by deleting the app from your device.
